Warren Buffett Was Right About the RV Business [View]
Source: Bloomberg Business
Published: Wednesday, December 2, 2015.
Summary: The industry is heading for one of its best years on record. Like most people who buy recreational vehicles, Warren Buffett made his decision quickly. He heard about Forest River in the summer of 20051 and bought the company just seven days later. Today, the purchase seems particularly sage. The Recreational Vehicle Industry Association projects that North American manufacturers will ship 369,100 machines this year at an average price of around $37,000, which would be a 52 percent boost in business from five years ago and make 2015 one of the industry's best years on record. With a dominant market share of close to 40 percent, Forest River is in pole position.

Source: South Bend Tribune
Published: Wednesday, December 2, 2015.
Summary: In his first remarks to the RV industry as president of the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association, Frank Hugelmeyer said he is optimistic about both the short- and long-term prospects of the RV market. Hugelmeyer spoke Tuesday at the National RV Trade Show in Louisville, Ky., an all-industry show aimed at RV dealers. If the industry trends the way RVIA's president predicts, it will mean good things for Elkhart County, where about 80 percent of the nation's RVs are produced. “We have erased the dip caused by the Great Recession with RV shipments nearing record levels,” Hugelmeyer said in his speech. “Fueled by low interest rates, affordable gas and steady consumer confidence, RV shipments should reach 375,000 units next year."

Published: Wednesday, December 2, 2015.
Summary: With recreational vehicle production rebounding to near pre-recession levels, a smattering of new RV dealerships are being created and others are expanding. In Elkhart County, where 80 percent of North American RVs are made, a new dealership has appeared for the first time since retail outlets were driven out of business by the 2008 economic downturn. “We saw an opportunity, given that this area is full of RV manufacturers and in Goshen in particular we did not have any RV dealers,” said Dzung Nguyen. “We had the land and the facilities and we had relationships with a lot of RV manufacturers.”

Inside the RV, a smaller tree may be chosen but some RVers forego that tradition for a display with personal meaning. Perhaps a copy of a favorite Christmas book beside a toy or figurine becomes the holiday focus on a table.

Roadtrek RS Adventurous Is A Luxurious Mercedes RV [View]
Published: Wednesday, December 2, 2015.
Summary: For many Americans, the open road is home. My family went on countless road trips across the U.S. throughout my life and they are some of the most special memories I have. One memory that I could have done without is the cramped space that both my brother and I (both of us over 6’4”) were subjected to. What we needed was the Roadtrek RS Adventurous. Based off a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis, Roadtrek keeps the German quality, but adds a touch of American exceptionalism to the overall product. The coach was built to take its occupants across the U.S. in complete comfort, seeing the sights and camping out under the stars.
