All-Female Technician Class Kicks Off Women’s History Month
March is Women’s History Month, a time to acknowledge and celebrate the contributions women have made throughout history in a variety of fields. March is also when the RV Women’s Alliance, in partnership with the RV Technical Institute, will kick off the first of five all-female RV technician training courses. Through the partnership, classes will be offered across the United States, including classes in Texas, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Florida, and Indiana.
“We know that women have been making incredible contributions to the RV industry for such a long time. Acknowledging and celebrating those accomplishments is one of the primary reasons for the founding of the RV Women’s Alliance,” said RV Women’s Alliance President Susan Carpenter. “Another, equally important role our organization plays is proving opportunities for women to grow their careers in the RV industry and ensure they have the resources to be successful. And that is exactly what this program with RVTI is all about.”
Beginning on Monday at the Coach-Net facility in Grapevine, Texas, these future female RV techs will learn about and demonstrate knowledge of propane, electrical, plumbing, appliances, body, generator, and chassis systems. After completing the course and passing the tests, each woman will have a proven skill set to prepare an RV for customer delivery by verifying the operation of all components and a Level 1 RV Technical Institute certification.
“As we begin Women’s History Month and honor International Women's Day next week, there could not be a better time to kick off our series of all-female technician training classes,” said RV Tracy Anglemeyer, RV Technical Institute Director of Recruitment and RV Women’s Alliance Board Member. “The recruitment of more women into the RV technician field is such a huge area of opportunity and this partnership provides the opportunity to teach skills to these women that will allow them to succeed and grow in this new career as an RV tech.”
There are still sponsorship opportunities for companies looking to support the additional classes taking place through the remainder of the year.
