Automotive Program Students Attend RVX To Learn About The RV Industry
On Wednesday, March 13, RVX: The RV Experience welcomed 11 students from the Automotive Program at Brighton High School in nearby Cottonwood Heights, UT. The students, ranging in ages from 14 to 17, expressed enthusiasm at the prospects of visiting with the RV industry and were excited to check it out.
Upon the student’s arrival, they met with the new RV Technical Institute’s Executive Director Curt Hemmeler who explained how being an RV technician was about so much more than working on engines. They would get to learn about everything from electrical to refrigeration and plumbing. He also noted how the RV lifestyle is growing and how the current need for RV technicians is a great business opportunity for the students’ futures.
This introduction certainly got the students pumped up to check out the industry’s newest products and explore the show floor. The group browsed through Class A motorhomes, fifth wheels and travel trailers, visiting with manufacturers and suppliers during their journey to find out what was special about each product. While some of the group were familiar with RVs, most had not had any experience working on an RV or traveling in one.
Ultimately, the best comment came from a young man in the group who wants to become a mechanic. When asked if he ever thought about being a mechanic in the RV industry, he simply replied “not before today!”
While RVX delivered on growing the profile of the RV industry, another goal was reached as well. The industry used the platform to expand our outreach to the next generation, implant a goal for their future and show them just how great the RV industry is!
