Comments on CARB Fill Pipe Regulation Due April 22
In October 2018, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) approved proposed amendments on fuel fill pipe requirements that will directly impact motorhome and chassis manufacturers. These amendments introduce a new performance leak standard and additional dimensional specifications for new fill pipe designs.
Specifically, the amendments are to section 2235, Title 13, California Code of Regulations, which incorporate by reference amendments to Specifications for Fill Pipes and Openings of 2015 and Subsequent Model Motor Vehicle Fuel Tanks. A members-only summary of the proposed changes is available here.
CARB is now attempting to determine if the additional conforming modifications to the regulation are appropriate. To that end, they are making the proposed modified regulatory language available for public comment, with any additional supporting documents and information, for a period of at least 15 days, which will close on April 22, 2019. CARB will consider all written comments submitted during the public review period and make any further modifications that are appropriate available for public comment for at least 15 days.
The resolution and all other regulatory documents for this rulemaking are available online on this CARB webpage.
Written comments will only be accepted on the modifications identified in the notice. Comments may be submitted by postal mail or by electronic submittal no later than 5:00 p.m. on the due date of April 22nd to the following:
