📊 Trends and insights: Go RVing is committed to keeping you up-to-date on trends and insights that impact the RV industry.
- One recent trend is the rise of solo trips.
🔢 Numbers to know: The American Express Global Travel Trends show 69% of travelers are planning a solo trip in 2024.
- The solo travel market is expected to have a compound annual growth rate of 9.1% between 2023 and 2030.
- Additionally, the Los Angeles Times reports that 2024 Pinterest searches for “solo traveling” have increased by 145%, while a booking.com recent 2024 traveler survey shows a whopping 59% plan to travel solo in the coming year.
- More than one-fourth of travelers (27%) surveyed by by Solo Traveler said they plan to go solo on their next trip – that’s double the previous year.
💻 But wait, there’s more: The number of people Googling ‘Solo Travel’ had also recently doubled and the hashtag “#solotravel” has seen a tenfold increase in the last three years on TikTok.
- On Instagram, the hashtag #solotravel has over 7.9 million posts last year.
- A 2023 Skyscanner survey found that 54% of respondents intended to ‘go it alone’ last year.
🚍 Our thought bubble: Traveling solo opens up opportunities for connections made along the journey in an RV. Many resources— such as online forums, social media, and groups like Girl Camper and Harvest Hosts— are available for individuals looking to connect with likeminded RVers.
- With solo travel’s rise in popularity, the industry should continue to foster opportunities for solitary RV travelers to explore outdoor destinations while still having the option to connect with others.
👀 One more thing: Go RVing has also joined the conversation around solo trips by highlighting additional considerations that solo RVers should make— such as budget, comfort, and more— as they embark on their journeys.
