Motorhome Businesses Weigh In On Keeping Up With Demand
A showcase of campervans brought out the tyre-kickers, upgraders and first-time seekers.
The Nelson Motorhome Show 2020 held over the weekend at Tāhunanui campground bustled with activity as families and retirees enjoyed the sun while mulling over their camper options.
With closed borders and many not wanting to leave the country due to Covid-19, even if they could, Kiwis are travelling in their own backyards – seeing motorhome sales soar.
Deluxe RV Group salesperson Matt Gibson said camper sales this year were through the roof.
But he said motorhome businesses were struggling to supply the strong demand.
“It’s been very, very popular; quite significantly busier than previous years.”
Gibson said he had customers who were entering the campervan scene and some who had overseas trips planned but were now spending the money on upgrading their motorhomes.
