Jun 1, 2018

The RV Industry Association has released the 2018 editions of the ANSI/RVIA TSIC-1, Recommended Practice for Process Controls for Assembly of Wheels on Trailers, and the ANSI/RVIA EGS-1, Engine Generator Sets for RV Safety Requirements. These standards are intended to educate and protect component manufacturers, trailer manufacturers, transporters, dealers and end user, by establishing the minimum safety requirements for maintaining wheels and engine generators.

The 2018 edition of the ANSI/RVIA TSIC-1 was published in April 2018 and provides guidance on the recommended design and assembly of trailer wheel components and control processes intended to improve trailer reliability and enhance consumer safety. Changes included in this edition relate to company record retention policies and addresses additions to optional methods of assembly.

The 2018 edition of the ANSI/RVIA EGS-1 was recently published in May 2018 and establishes the minimum safety requirements for the listing of engine generators intended for installation and operation in RVs and other similar mobile applications. This edition includes several editorial and clarifying changes that address the protection of wire and cable from fuel and oil, as fuel lines were noted to be made specifically of steel or copper alloy and installation instructions and owner’s manual criteria was subjective to re-write.
