The RV Industry Association Hires New Standards Inspector
The RV Industry Association’s standards inspection program is one of the organization’s signature industry initiatives and its greatest member benefit. The standards department maintains a professional team of full-time inspectors that promote the enhancement of safety by monitoring adherence to the standards adopted by the board of directors for the construction of RVs and park model RVs. The team of inspectors conducts more than 2,000 unannounced inspections of member company RV manufacturing plants annually.
New RV inspector, Nate Tressler, has recently started working with the RV Industry Association’s standards program. He became interested in the RV industry after hearing about it from a former coworker and has enjoyed the training process. “It’s very thorough and outstanding,” he said.
When asked about an inspector’s daily routine, Nate explained that inspectors are assigned a trip every week. “When we go to the plant, we meet with our contact. Then we go down the line and inspect the RVs.”
Nate also discussed the skillsets that make a successful inspector. In particular, he emphasized the importance of adhering to a schedule, being able to work independently, and having a mechanical mindset. He also noted that this position is ideal for those who like to travel. For anyone considering the career path of an RV inspector, Nate had a few words of encouragement: “I would say go for it!”
