RV Industry Association Hosts Fourth Annual NHTSA Seminar
The RV Industry Association will host its Fourth Annual National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Seminar, complimentary to all members, on Wednesday, May 1 in Elkhart, Ind.
It is critical for the RV industry to understand its NHTSA compliance responsibilities. Understanding NHTSA regulations, as well as how to identify safety issues, will not only help members stay compliant and avoid needless noncompliance costs; but more importantly, it helps the industry to continually improve the safety of the RVs for consumers.
This year’s seminar will focus on the potential life stages of a recall including: identifying a potential issue that requires further investigation, elevating such issue to a safety committee, investigating and identifying the elevated issue and administering a recall campaign; in addition to reviewing basic federal motor vehicle safety standards and the function of a safety committee.
There will be a special keynote presentation given by Bruce York of NHTSA followed by interactive break-out sessions where attendees will have the opportunity to discuss an assortment of topics with their peers, as well as industry compliance veterans and outside legal counsel serving the industry. These topics include:
- Basic Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) Review
- Issue Identification
- Safety Committee Function
- Recall Investigation and Identification (2 repeat sessions – choose one to attend)
- Recall Campaign Execution
The event will commence at 8am at the RV/MH Hall of Fame in Elkhart, Ind., and is scheduled to end at 2pm. Lunch will be provided.
All interested parties are invited, particularly those that have compliance responsibilities, wish to learn more about safety and recall issue processes, or are involved in identifying potential issues that may need to be elevated to a safety committee/superior.
This event wouldn’t be possible without our wonderful sponsors: Winnebago Industries, Forest River Inc., Thor Industries, Dometic Corporation, Lippert Components, Inc., Dave Carter & Associates, Dexter Axle Company and Flexsteel Industries, Inc.
