RV Industry Association Members Share National Park Week Stories
It's National Park Week! Hosted by the National Park Service, this weeklong event, taking place this year from April 22-April 30, celebrates the joy of national parks and the great outdoors.
This year's theme for National Park Week is "park stories" that highlight a special connection with a place in a national park or a community. In honor of this amazing week, the RV Industry Association is sharing members' personal park stories. Check them out below!

El Capitan, Yosemite Falls, Half Dome, Bridal Veil Falls, wasn’t this what we came over 2,000 miles across the country to see? Yet my 12- & 13-year-olds were bent over poking and staring at a strange red plant on the side of a random trail road. It turned out to be the very rare Snowflower plant. I was looking at the big sights, while my precious sons were noticing details I apparently was missing. They taught me such a memorable lesson that day, with wisdom beyond their years. I will never forget this time in Yosemite National Park.

It was 2014, and my wife and I were contemplating our next vacation. Neither of us had been on a cruise yet…having raised 5 kids will do that to you, so we thought we were ready to take the plunge, no pun intended. In the midst of wrangling dates and destinations my bride of nearly 30 years says, “What if we just rented an RV and went to the Grand Canyon instead?”
Many, dare I say most, camping and RVing journeys start out with our insatiable desire to see and experience our National Parks, Monuments, and Memorials. It’s almost as if it’s ingrained in our DNA to do so….it can’t be explained. Seeing them in person is a wonderful experience in of itself, but you have the joy of reliving that experience every time you see one of our National wonders on TV, in movies, and in advertisements. You simply smile, remember, and think…I’ve been there.
