Mark your calendars! Next week, the Texas Association of Campground Owners will host an 8-hour RV technician hands-on training session in partnership with the RV Technical Institute. 

The course, which is scheduled for Monday, April 28th, 2025, will take place the day before the Texas Association’s Spring Meeting and Trade Show in Conroe, TX. The show will take place Tuesday, April 29th and Wednesday, April 30th.

This course will cover:

  • Basic electricity testing & safety wattage, voltage, and amperage   
  • Tripping breakers on a 30 Amp camper, replacing fuses, and where the circuit breakers are located   
  • How to hook up cable TV, how to turn off the antenna amplifier, Wi-Fi, satellite signal, and set up   
  • What a generator ATO switch is and what happens when it goes bad   
  • Basic water systems   
  • LP system   
  • HVAC, water heater, furnace trouble, and refrigerator troubleshooting quick checks   
  • Slide room and awning fixes
  • Troubleshooting inoperable jacks and landing gear   
  • Chassis, hydraulics, and towing  

“Park operators are often the first people to tend to a guest experiencing technical difficulties with their RV,” said RV Technical Institute Executive Director Curt Hemmeler. “This session will teach the basics from RVTI’s gold standard RV technician training curriculum and will help get guests safely back on the road and enhance campground customer service.”
