U.S. Trade Representative Extends Section 301 China Product Exclusions
On December 26, the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) announced a further extension of all active Section 301 China product exclusions. Originally set to expire on December 31, 2023, the 429 exclusions will now remain in effect until May 31, 2024.
USTR is inviting public input on the potential additional extension of these specific exclusions for 30 days, starting from January 21, 2024, to February 22, 2024. Comments can be submitted through the online comment portal available here.
Initially reinstated in March 2022, these 429 product exclusions have undergone two previous extensions, first to September 30 and then to December 31. The decision to prolong these exclusions is aimed at aligning them with USTR's ongoing 4-Year Section 301 Review. Comments for this review process were initially solicited at the beginning of 2023.
For companies benefiting from these exclusions, active participation in the upcoming comment process is strongly recommended. Please reach out to Samantha Rocci (srocci@rvia.org) for more information on how this may impact your business.
