Industry Leaders Share Why They Support The Mission Of The RV Technical Institute

Sep 29, 2021

The RV Technical Institute (RVTI) is the gold standard when it comes to RV technician training, providing the only industry-backed training curriculum and RV technician certification and career path. Their mission is guided by the RVTI Board of Directors, a group of leaders from across the RV industry who work to set the direction of the RV Technical Institute. These individuals have been consistently supportive of the RV Technical Institute’s efforts to develop their training program and increase the number of skilled RV technicians.

Here’s what they have to say about why they believe so strongly in the RV Technical Institute and its mission:

Mary Pouliot, Thetford Corporation, Norcold Inc VP of Sales & Marketing and Chair of the RVTI Board of Directors:

“A critical issue the industry needs to address so we can continue to enjoy industry growth is the shortage of trained technicians. RVTI is an important key to addressing this critical issue. Since I joined the industry 15 years ago, I have served in several capacities focusing on training and education. It is amazing to see where we were and where we are now with a full-blown institute dedicated to the recruitment and training of technicians in the RV Industry. I serve on the RVTI Board because I am passionate about recruiting new talent and training new and existing talent in the industry to help sustain industry growth. I look forward to being a part of the continued success RVTI is making in the industry around the recruitment and training of technicians.”

Brad Woods, Camping World Director of Learning & Development

“The RVTI’s success is paramount as it relates to the skilled labor gap that we are currently experiencing in the United States. The RVTI is trying to recruit Authorized Learning Partners to teach its industry recognized curriculum across the country. Introducing individuals to the RV Technician Career Path will add RV Technicians to the workforce will benefit Camping World (as well as other RV Dealerships) and the industry as a whole.”

Jon Ferrando, RV Retailer Chief Executive Officer and President

“RV Retailer is committed to training and developing service technicians. We are a major supporter of the RVTI objective to train and advance technicians in the RV industry. The RV industry is growing rapidly with millions adopting the RV outdoor lifestyle. This is creating high demand for RV service, which means the industry needs significantly more trained RV service technicians to meet that demand. The RVTI mission to provide technician training and improve the consumer experience aligns with our goals at RV Retailer. We are also focused on attracting new technicians to our company and the industry by offering great training programs through our RV Retailer University, and proud to see technicians advance their careers.”

Phil Ingrassia, RV Dealers Association President:

“The national RV Dealers Association and the Mike Molino RV Learning Center strongly support the work of the RV Technical Institute as it delivers programs to enhance the skills of current technicians and provide a pathway to attract new techs to this exciting field. Through online and in-person content, which is also delivered through many of the leading RV dealerships in the country, RVTI offers accessible, effective, and affordable training programs that can help techs achieve success. RVTI training, along with educational resources available through the RV Learning Center for fixed operations personnel, will help the industry meet the service demands of the growing number of RV travelers across the country, which is why I am honored to serve on the RVTI Board of Directors.”

Chris Andro, Hemlock Hill RV Sales & Service GM/Partner:

“America’s passion to explore the great outdoors has been fueling the RV industry’s growth for the past 10 years. With over 11 million RVs on the road today, the opportunity to have a rewarding, successful, and exciting career as an RV Technician has never been better. Top pay, great working conditions, job security for many years to come are just some of the perks. RVTI has developed a clear path to achieve success and I’m proud to say I’m part of that process. At Hemlock Hill RV we started with the Pilot program and continue to use all RVTI’s resources to make sure our customers continue to have a great ownership experience.”

Jeff Rutherford, Airxcel President & CEO:

“As the technologies of our products continue to advance, all while consumer expectations for performance, repair, and service increase, having access to skilled, trained technicians to perform the work is crucial. RVTI is providing the resources necessary to recruit and train these technicians to current products in order to provide this necessary service to our customers. As a supplier and RV Industry Association board member, a key priority of our industry is to ensure we are providing the necessary service skills to support all of our customers post sale.”
