The National Park System - What’s Open
Some cave tours and camping are returning to Mammoth Cave National Park in Kentucky, while a good handful of other park units across the country are easing back on restrictions for what visitors can do and where they can go.
At Mammoth Cave, self-guided cave tours will be allowed on Monday, June 1, and the park campgrounds will reopen on June 11.
“We will offer a self-guided tour of the upper Historic section of the cave where visitors will experience large open passageways that allow for effective social distancing," said Mammoth Cave Superintendent Barclay Trimble. "Tour participants will learn about the cave’s history and geology from rangers stationed at key points along the trail. Cave tour tickets will be limited in number, so we encourage everyone to plan ahead and purchase their tickets through Recreation.gov before arriving to the park.”

With access to the National Park System slowly reopening, National Parks Traveler will work to keep you updated on where you can go in the park system. To be on the safe side in case we miss an opening or are late with posting it, check your favorite park's website to see what is open. Many parks are opening in phases, so listings will be updated as information becomes available.
