New Year, New Congress: Federal Affairs Team Welcomes 116th Congress To DC
Last Thursday, January 3, brought both the 116th Congress and the RV Industry Association’s federal affairs team to Capitol Hill. The federal affairs team connected with more than fifty Congressional offices during a series of meet and greets, open houses and receptions for members of the new Congress.
The Indiana delegation reception proved one of the most important events of the day, as RV Industry Association staff were able to speak with several Members of Congress to promote the industry and the issues we will be working on in 2019. Nearly the entire Indiana delegation was in attendance, including Senators Mike Braun and Todd Young, Representatives Jim Baird, Jim Banks, Susan Brooks, Larry Bucshon, Trey Hollingsworth, Greg Pence and Jackie Walorski, and a surprise appearance by Vice President Mike Pence.
The team spent the day not only meeting with new Members of Congress, but also meeting with current RV Caucus members and champions to thank them for their support and work during the last Congress.
In the coming weeks the federal affairs team will continue to meet with members of the 116th Congress to lay the foundation and grow the support needed to achieve enactment of key RV industry policy priorities in 2019.
Check out some of the highlights from the days meetings:
The entire group posed for a photo with the Vice President before he had to leave to prepare to swear in the new members.
