NHTSA’s Early Warning Reporting And Trends Analysis Webinar
On Tuesday, April 14, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) Trends Analysis Division will be hosting a webinar for RV Industry Association manufacturers on early warning reporting (EWR) and conducting EWR data analysis.
Under the Transportation Recall Enhancement, Accountability and Documentation (TREAD) Act, certain manufacturers are subject to the EWR provisions. The regulations promulgated under the Act require manufacturers of motor vehicles (which includes RVs), motor vehicle equipment, child safety systems and tires to submit certain information and documentation to NHTSA. The information submitted by manufacturers is intended to assist NHTSA to promptly identify possible defects related to motor vehicle safety.
Although many of the EWR provisions apply to manufacturers that produce more than 500 units annually, there are EWR provisions which apply to manufacturers that produce fewer than 500 units annually (“low volume manufacturers”).
The webinar will take place from 1-3pm ET and is divided into two sections. The first portion will cover the specific requirements for low volume manufacturers and the second will cover EWR data analysis and the different types of reports for manufacturers who produce more than 500 units annually.
Below is the agenda for next week’s webinar:
Section One: EWR for Low Volume Manufacturers (20 Minutes)
- Brief overview of Early Warning Reporting (EWR) for low volume manufacturers
Section Two: EWR for Manufacturers (90 Minutes)
- Review of EWR data analysis (Bayesian filter, time series, outlier analysis, etc.), and what is each type of report (ex: what is a field report or customer complaint, etc.)
