Manager, Federal Affairs
Job Duties
The Manager, Federal Affairs position provides support to the Federal Government Affairs Team at the RV Industry Association. This position builds relationships with members of Congress, their staff, and key decision makers in the Administration to promote and protect the RV industry. The Manager's responsibilities are primarily centered on promoting outdoor recreation and enhancing opportunities within the industry. Moreover, the Manager serves as the association's representative at both national and regional meetings of government officials and allied organizations, actively participating in the development and maintenance of critical coalition initiatives. Collaborating closely with RV Industry Association members and committees, the Manager cultivates and advances the RV Industry policy.
The Manager advances federal GA initiatives; assists in developing federal legislative and regulatory policy; drafts internal policy documents and external correspondences to government officials and RV Industry Association members; lobbies federal government to promote and protect RV industry; with the Vice President, the Senior Director, and outside consultant, serve as point person on RV Industry Association's annual Advocacy Day; assists with GA website content; files quarterly lobbying log; helps develop GA strategic plan; manages special projects; and assists the GA director, Senior Director, and Vice President as needed.
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in political science or related field required.
- Law degree, master’s degree in political science or related field preferred.
- 3-5 years working for a national trade association preferred.
- Experience working on Capitol Hill for a member of Congress or Congressional Committee preferred.
- Experience working for a federal agency such as the Department of the Interior, Department of Transportation, Department of Commerce, or other agencies related to the RV industry preferred.
